There have been times that I have held myself back from moving on a project because of the thoughts that say, “I can not present this idea until it is perfected, Or Not until I have all the pieces, Or I have to have it all perfected in my head”.
My spiritual study this morning offered great insight around the idea of perfection. First, perfection is not a requirement; what is a requirement is patience, and a growing discipline of the mind and heart. These three are the requirements that will eventually produce something so magnificent, so powerful and worthy to warrant the label “perfection”.
I talk a lot about the power of our thoughts, but have you ever wonder why the heart is always included? Why is it piggy-backed as one of the ingredients, when we all know that everything, and I mean everything, first starts with a thought?
The answer, is the heart holds and symbolizes the passion, the drive, the emotion and determination that is attached to any idea or thought of creation. It is the glue! The substance that gives one the ability to hold that idea so focused, so firm, until it takes physical form.
The emotions are the steam of the ship, the flames of a fire, the resolve that moves one in a direction completely unknown and blacken by uncertainty.
Science has made this a known fact, that the subconscious mind makes no distinction between the impulses generated from constructive or destructive thought. So ponder this as you take a close look at your pattern of initiating a change and motivating yourself towards a result.
- What Is your belief about change? Do you find that….Pain is always attached? Is it something that “others” want YOU to do? A feeling that if you have to change, there must be something “wrong” about you…you are broken and need to be fixed. If your perception about making changes is similar to any of these thoughts, rather than having the ability to change, meaning moving towards the success and goals you desire with ease, you are bound in a chain of twisted thoughts. For every step forward you feel like you take 2 steps back. Rather than being motivated by a energizing amount of stress known as level 1 where you flow free with life, you are engined by a personal “stress signature” that flings you automatically into the more dangerous levels of 2 or 3. The very minute you begin to try or even think of ways to change, your submerged negative beliefs are triggered, creating impulses that show up as physical, mental, or emotional symptoms. Amazingly, the most commonly found are headaches, high blood pressure, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, forgetfulness, snapping at others, overeating, under-eating, addictions, blaming others, seclusion and the list goes on.
2. Change requires faith and hope. Change requires courage…courage to look at ones results and the different happenings that are going on in their life. Their attitude about themselves, their relationships, business dealings and basically the overall way that they interact, respond and feel about life.
The moment our thought and feeling moves away from faith, hope and courage the power of our mind drops offering to us, too weak of an energy signal to successfully begin formulating a solution. We link right into old patterns of sabotage and failure.
What is our choice? Brave to make the change that will elevate the thinking? Remember, “There are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledge…”
