There are those days when the heavy weight of unresolved matters and concerns close in upon us, paralyzing our ability to act because of the mixing of negative feeling and thought. These thoughts have one true goal – to relentlessly point out every one of our flaws, faults, and inner fears; each echoing in our ear memories filled with perceptions of failure.
Is there no peace? – No End to this? YES!
Our unrelenting worry blinds us from the true secret of daily living. Quickly forgotten is the understanding that this life is short, leaving us with no leftovers. Once a moment is gone – it is gone forever! Or is it? Perhaps the real problem is we can’t see the finished product, the whole picture, the view seen through God’s eyes.
“The secret of daily life is this..there are no leftovers! There is nothing – no thing, no person, no experience, no thought, no joy or pain – that cannot be harvested and used for nourishment on our journey to God. We may think losing a job or a business failure will prevent us from ever going forward in our career. We may be convinced a difficult childhood will keep us from healthy, loving relationships. Or we may feel that a physical limitation will keep us from true fulfillment. Not so in God’s Kingdom! Nothing that happens to us is wasted by the Lord. He uses everything for His life – building purposes when we give all our experiences to Him.” Macrina Wiederkehr from her writings in, Breakfast with God, p.97.
