It’s time for bed and I can hear the familiar sound of one unable to take a deep breath as my daughter struggles to get oxygen into her lungs. This is not a normal situation for her; she is usually very healthy; but due to the taxing effect of her allergies, her body is having to work extra hard just to breath.
Having six children and with the high cost of medical treatment I have taken the opportunity to learn as much as possible about how to help the body stay or become healthy. It has been said that when the body is in perfect balance it is healthy. So the key is to locate how or what is throwing it out of balance and help it to return.
In the case of my daughter….pollen and eating a lot of sugary foods were taxing her body to a point that it was having a difficult time fighting back. (Sugar will do a number on the immune system.) I chose to use Bromelain (Pineapple enzyme – good for inflammation) mixed in other Chinese herbs as well as make a homeopathic for the adrenals. A few essential oils and within 10 mins. she was breathing normally. Surprised? Not really. I have seen natural remedies work time and time again.
Don’t misunderstand me, I am the first to take my children to a Doctor for medical care when the need arises; but if it is not a life or death situation I will try to go a natural route first. I have a great appreciation for Alternative health care, just because I have seen success time and time again. One thing I have learned about using natural remedies, I can’t wait….I need to take action right away. Also one application and “poof” they are magically better is not normally the case. I work with them several times throughout the day paying attention to see if there is any change. Creating a situation for health through diet, exercise, and healthy life style practices is the key. Giving the body the help, support and opportunity to find it’s balance.
I believe in being pro-active about our health, rather than just passing ill health as being part of the norm.
Note: I am not prescribing. Everyone is responsible for their own choices in health…and that includes seeing a Doctor.
