“Motivation is when your dreams put on work clothes” Benjamin Franklin
Reading this caused my spirit leaped with joy and I couldn’t help but smile! I told myself “Yes Cathy, he’s talking about your ‘get down to work’ clothes not ‘designer jeans”‘.
Clothes that motivate and bring to Reality personal dreams that others only hope for. A motivation that is courageous, ambitious, unafraid of others reactions, and bold enough to dig in and do what it takes to get the job done. A motivation that ALLOWS you to really dream unafraid.
For me this analogy of clothing makes perfect sense; motivation is something that you wear, a force unseen and definitely felt.
We all put on work/ play clothes when we set our mind to accomplishing a task. You know the ones you could grab out of the drawer when it was time to do your chores…the same type you would wear when Mom said you could head out to play. These were the ones that you were free to imagine in, climb rocks and trees, romp in the dirt, ride your bike for hours, work in the garden, play a team sport…the ones that gave you unlimited options and opportunities.
These were the clothes that you were unconcerned with appearance and more concerned with the ability and freedom to move, filled with endurance and a strong dose of “stick to it” till the job is done.
These are the clothes we label as our “work/play” clothes.
Today’s affirmation: “TODAY I am wearing positively energized work clothes.”
