Instructions for DIY on http://cathyfreemanrpc.com/Happy_MaMa.html
We did all the normal stuff… sports, dance, and I home schooled.
You start to feel like you are out there running around with the monkeys just barely holding on.
Just the other night my kids were joking about how they each had to take turns brushing my hair to relax me. (not sure of the details other than, when our head is stroked or the hair is worked with, it has been said that our body releases calming chemical) Therefore, it became the job or should I say “opportunity for service” of the youngest child, as soon as he or she could hold a brush to gain this honorary position. The fact of the matter is, the one older child was eager to pass the duty off.
Anyway, it worked – this little deed kept me from losing my cool and biting someones head off after a long hard day.
Well they (my children) have all, but two, grown up. And now a days I am hard pressed to find anyone whom I can talk into doing this little job for me…therefore, out of survival I have learned some other relaxing strategies.
Even though these little tips I am about to share with you are not as good as a hair brushing, they work pretty darn close.
(Note: always check with medical professionals before using any techniques. You are responsible for your own choices and your own health)
FOOT SOAK: Wow after a long day, our feet can get pretty sore. Take a dish tub and fill half way full with nice warm water (be careful not to burn yourself) Pour into the water about 1/4 cup of Epson Salt and 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar. Now let your little footies soak.
This is sooo good to help the body release toxins.(Important: do not soak longer that 20 mins. and stop even sooner if you feel that you are through. The body starts to re-absorb the toxins in the water)
Tennis ball pressure points: I have used these when I start to get a headache, have sinus pressure, that feeling of “coming down” with something. I lay down and put the tennis balls right behind my head at the base of the scull where the neck and scull meet. The weight of my head applies pressure as it rests against the balls. I like it to lay right up against the two bony structures at the base of the scull. I find that for me, it opens up the flow of energy running up and down my spine. (If you have any neck or spine injuries, you might seek advice) My sinus will eventually clear and if I have a headache it has help to relieve it.(I also use a warm washcloth on my forehead) Everyone is different…what works for me may not work for you.
